Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts

Are we suppose to heal the sick and cast out demons? If God wants to use His people for this, wouldn’t you want to know?

Here I’m going to display many verses, but I ask that each of you pray to God for the “Truth”. God is the one who teaches us all things.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. – John 14:26

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:15-18

I’m excited to tell you that I’ve seen many people healed from all sorts of things! Read one of the latest articles – Prayer for Health Inside Hospitals = Miracles

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 2nd Timothy 3:1-5

This passage talks as if the miracles will never stop, but says in the last times that His people would actually deny its power. Am I missing something here? “His people” are denying “His power”! What about all these claims of missionaries in South America and Africa raising the dead up? How about the evangelists who pray over the sick and they get healed? Are they evil or just obeying the Word of God?

The book of Acts didn’t have “Amen” at the end, because the works of the Spirit are not done through our lives. God is the same yesterday, today and forever! He doesn’t change, but it’s obvious we are in the last days, as very few Christians believe in the power of God anymore.

There is another term that this goes, by: Christian Atheism. “Which is an ideology in which the belief in the God of Christianity is rejected or absent but the moral teachings of Jesus are followed.” – Wiki

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant. 1st Cor 12:1

God has never been absent in our personal lives. He will never force Himself into our lives either! If that were the case, then He’d be controlling our lives; ultimately forcing us to love Him. Thank God! He doesn’t want us as robots, but desires that we give ourselves wholly to Him.

“And it shall come to pass afterward,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your old men shall dream dreams,
and your young men shall see visions.
29 Even on the male and female servants
in those days I will pour out my Spirit. – Joel 2:28-32

This verse isn’t saying the gifts are only for the Apostles, but for “All flesh!” So the Holy Spirit will be given to all for equipping us to do His work. He does desire for us to “seek” after these spiritual gifts, and also to pray for healing and cast out demons. It’s vital though that whatever voice we hear doesn’t contradict the Word of God. The Holy Spirit would never do so!

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. – 2nd Timothy 3:16-17

Let’s take a look at Apostle Paul and what he said about preaching. Though Paul was a man of great wisdom; excelling in his studies as well as being an excellent speaker. He writes the following…

And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1st Cor 2:3-5

Praise God that He doesn’t require our wisdom to preach His Word! God only requires that we trust in Him, and do only what He says. Once we believe in God’s promises in the Bible, anything is possible! “What is impossible for man is possible for God” – Luke 18:27 Jesus says, “He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also”. I pray that anybody who is reading this, will get a hunger for God’s spiritual gifts.

Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. – John 14:11-14

Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts Task:

Spend time in prayer asking God to speak to you through 1st Cor 12,14 and Luke 11. Ask God to give you the gift you desire so His Kingdom can be spread through it. To earnestly desire something is to also seek after it. Just like a little kid will consistently ask his parents for a toy.

If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! – Luke 11:13

I am in need of a miracle to have the swelling go down and return my eye to normal. The swelling is making people poke fun at me as it is deforming.

    • Hey Malna,

I’m going to be praying for you. I know God is very able and very willing to heal you! “Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9 God I speak over Malna’s eye. I command it to be healed in Jesus’ name! No more swelling in Jesus’ name! Thank you Father for healing Malna and to You belongs all the glory! Amen!
